The site is adjacent to a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay in Northern Virginia, which provides the clients with a dock for their sailboat. The clients are active in the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and have a strong interest in sustainable design. They requested a total ‘green’ custom-designed house, including solar collectors, gray water reuse system and vegetated roof. Primary views are of the marsh at the south and the water to the east while maintaining privacy from the neighbors at the north.
